About the Art behind the stage
These stained glass posters were made with paint sticks and painters tape by our BLC kids (with the help of some BLC grown ups).
We started this church to help people connect with God, find spiritual health & community, and contribute to justice & healing in the world — especially people who feel more comfortable in progressive settings, rather than religious settings. Our guide is Jesus. There are settings that present “faith in Jesus” as an exclusive thing, but our experience of Jesus is entirely different.
Join others from BLC almost every Sunday after service for continued conversation and community at a local spot. We’ll announce where during service. Or check our Discord #afterparty channel for updates.
Instead of a message, we’ll have an all-church meeting about the financial and business side of running our church.
All are invited to listen in! At the end of the meeting, attendees will have opportunity to opt-in as a church stakeholder for 2025, but opt-in is not required.
Instead of a normal Sunday service at the Davis Theater, sign up to join one of a few simultaneous brunches hosted by people in our community across the Northside of Chicago.

For centuries people have sung together to slow down from the pace of life and encounter God at an emotional level. Our music ranges from chill and contemplative to upbeat and lively. Feel free to sing along and engage, or just sit back and appreciate the space.
Our speakers will share from their personal experiences of spirituality and trying to follow Jesus, from both ancient traditions and modern social sciences, and from the Bible.
Sharing bread and a cup invites us to consider Jesus’ death on a cross. Jesus’ Cross is not about satisfying the wrath of an angry God. It is about a God who walks into the suffering, limitations, and neediness of humanity, who doesn’t run from the hardest things of life, but who walks through them with us.
We’ll personally follow up, so we can get to know you, hear about your experience, and help you get connected.
Smaller group gatherings (both one-time and ongoing) are the way most people make friends and start to feel connected in our community.
